Movies

Quick reactions to films we’ve watched as a family—ranging from the bonkers fun of Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning to indie darlings, animated favorites and rewatching Into the Wild with my daughter. I note what resonated (or didn’t) and who joined us.

It was family movie night and we watched Flora & Ulysses. It is a fun story about a squirrel with superpowers. 🍿

We watched Trolls World Tour tonight. It was fun and I liked all the music in it. Tiny Diamond cracked us up a lot. The story has very obvious messages about valuing differences told through music. Everyone liked it. 🍿

We had a John Hughes movie night with my brother and his family with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. There is more swearing than I remembered, or at least you notice it more with a 10, 12, and 15 year old watching. Mazie still liked it. 🍿

We all watched Soul tonight and liked it a lot. The story, message, visuals were all awesome! We will definitely watch it again. 🍿

Watched Ad Astra tonight. Enjoyed it. It was pretty much what I expected, which was just fine with me. 🍿🚀

We watched Ralph Breaks the Internet tonight and everyone liked it. I loved all the various references to different websites. Wish there would have been a blog or two though! 🍿

We watched The Christmas Chronicles: Part 2 tonight. Good sequel to the first one. Great family movie heading into Christmas. 🎄🍿

Family movie night! We watched Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey on Netflix. Great story and everyone enjoyed it! 🍿

We watched Abominable tonight for Family Movie night and it was great. Wonderful story and very touching. Even better than I expected. 🍿

    Pandemic Date Night

Like many Tammy and I haven’t had a “typical” date night during the pandemic. Restaurants are take out only. Movie theaters are closed, and would be a pretty bad idea with Covid. But we were thinking how the Tesla has Netflix and Hulu so we decided to have a Pandemic Date Night in the car! We got takeout from Lake & Irving, one of our favorite places.

Then we went to Lake Bde Maka Ska, parked along the parkway, and watched Hunt for the Wilder People on Netflix in the car. It was a fun change of pace, and a really good movie.

When Tesla added Entertainment options like Netflix and Hulu I thought that would be possibly interesting when waiting for someone. But hadn’t ever thought we’d watch a whole movie. 🍿 Also, running the heater, seat heaters, and entertainment system for the whole movie used about 10% battery. Also, the audio is really good. The surround sound was very immersive. I think we may do this again. 👍
