MEA 2021 Road Trip Day 8: Explore Indy and Custom Kicks

Weather: Little cool but sunny.

Breakfast pastries and delicious coffee at Blue Collar Coffee.
Explore area: City Dogs Grocer, Moonshot Games, Homespun: Modern Homemade, Penn & Beech, and Decorate.
Return to Pins Mechanical for another round of Duckpin Bowling.
Lunch at Punch Burger.
Shopping at 8 Fifteen.
Return to Cake Bake Shop for some cake to-go: Gwendolyn’s Famous Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake, Pumpkin Chocolate Cake, Millionaire Cake, and Carrot Cake. The Carrot Cake and Millionaire Cake were the family favorites.
We all made custom designed shoes at Kicasso!
Dinner at Public Greens.
Final round of billiards at the Bottleworks Hotel.

MEA 2021 Road Trip Day 7: Rainy Day in Indy

Weather: Cool with high in low 50’s and drizzle rain nearly all day. 🌧 Scrapped outdoor plans in afternoon as a result.

Late wake up and checkout of Airbnb.
Breakfast at Milktooth.
Visit Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.
Aimlessly try to figure out what to do with an hour while it is raining and cold.
Coffee at Georgia Street Grind.
Check out Wooden’s Legacy statue.
Visit Vonnegut Museum and Library.
Check into Bottleworks Hotel.
Play billiards in lobby before dinner.
Great dinner at Livery.
More billiards at hotel lobby.
Puzzle room at Twisted Room Escapes.

MEA 2021 Road Trip Day 6: Cake Bake & Dune

Weather: Cool today, and pretty blustery in the afternoon. Needed a light jacket for the first time.

Coffee and pastries at Coat Check Coffee.
Fun time at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, mostly in the sports section.
Lunch at Cake Bake Shop. Fancy, frilly food and deliciously famous cakes.
So much art at Newfields.
First time Duckpin Bowling.
Opening night for Dune. 🤩

Weather: Perfect.

Check out of the Holy Goat.
Breakfast at Con Huevos.
Walk around neighborhood.

Shop at farm store.
Dinner at barn8 at Hermitage Farm.

MEA 2021 Road Trip Day 4: Explore NuLu and The Holy Goat

Weather: Incredible. Just perfect. Couldn’t dial it in any better with a knob.

Delicious Cortado and brew at Quills Coffee.
A bonus-round of biscuits at Biscuit Belly.
Bourbon tour and tasting at Rabbit Hole.
Louisville Cream was closed, so Please & Thank You for cookies.
Back to Quills Coffee for an Espresso Old Fashioned and coffee beans for home. Very odd drink. Not a fan.
Browsing stores in Nulu: Buff City Soap, Mamili, Hazel + Hunt, White’s Mercantile, Revelry Boutique and Gallery, Peace of the Earth.
Dozen macarons at Macaron Bar.
Dinner at Emmy Squared.
Watched Secretariat. Great movie about an incredible horse.

Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory

We went to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory today. Learned that it takes 47 seconds for a computer to lathe a professional bat. And the many batters have custom specifications that their bats are made to. Very cool place.

Churchill Downs Tour

We visited Churchill Downs today and took the Superstars & Spires Tour. The history of the race, the venue, and the horses. It made me want to go to the Kentucky Derby someday! 🏇
