2020

We went to the Glow Holiday Festival at the Minnesota State Fair tonight. Fun time but we think the lights would look cooler with snow on the ground.

This Pomegranate Gimlet may be one of my favorite new drinks! Delicious! 🍸

Commenting and Reactions added to Link Blog

I’ve been toying with the idea of having commenting on my Link Blog. I ran across Hyvor Talk and just set it up to give it a try. It has a really nice interface and looks great. I like the simple reaction options too. Also, it has privacy features and isn’t funded by hidden ads. I had previously tried Commento but it was a big lacking in some of the more advanced features. I’m curious to see how Hyvor works out.

    "Ted Lasso of newsletters"

CJ Chilvers shared a shout out to The Weekly Thing in his newsletter this week:

I love The Weekly Thing by Jamie Thingelstad. It’s the Ted Lasso of newsletters. I especially like his idea for a Tesla date night. All I need now is the Tesla! Santa?

β€œTed Lasso of newsletters" is some super high praise! 🀩

I’m going to get that framed for the wall. πŸ™Œ

Family movie night! We watched Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey on Netflix. Great story and everyone enjoyed it! 🍿

Today we announced that Data Masons is becoming part of SPS Commerce! This is a great combination and I’m looking forward to all we will do together.

The news was also shared on the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square!

Facebook’s opposition to Apple’s privacy enhancements on their platform is a strong positive signal. The fact they are so worried about it validates that these actions must be meaningful in the fight against surveillance.

    Dancing on the Pedals

Today I did my fourth day in a row on my Peloton bike. I can tell that the workouts I’ve been putting in over the last months are having a big impact. A few months ago I would have been spent after consecutive days like this, but today I felt invigorated. You get this feeling like you are Dancing on the Pedals when you climb out of the saddle. It is fun and I haven’t felt that in a very long time. Recovering and going again, repeat. Feel good power in my legs. Gaining some confidence around riding a Century next summer for the first time in a decade plus! Good stuff. #FitByFifty

Travail Kitchen Family Meal: Lamb Ragu over Parisian Gnocchi

We got the Family Meal from Travail Kitchen this weekend and I cooked it up for dinner tonight. It was a delicious Lamb Ragu dish with Gnocchi. The food was super tasty but just as fun are the videos that they release to go with them. This is fun to watch even if you aren’t making the dish.

    Brandi Carlile

We absolutely loved watching the Brandi Carlile livestream Still Home for the Holidays tonight. It was a great collection of Christmas music filled with beautiful renditions of many classics.

Brandi and the Twins perform O Holy Night in here and it makes your spine shiver. This 2013 performance is a taste, but tonights was even better.

Brandi also plays a gorgeous version of The River. For $15 this is a great show.

There are some swear words here and there, so if you are watching with the family be aware of that.

See list of Brandi Carlile shows.

We watched Abominable tonight for Family Movie night and it was great. Wonderful story and very touching. Even better than I expected. 🍿

Yes the Walker is closed right now with the pandemic but we watched the British Arrows Greatest Hits online tonight and it was full of great stuff. Such a wide variety of ads that hit every note you can imagine.

    Pandemic Date Night

Like many Tammy and I haven’t had a β€œtypical” date night during the pandemic. Restaurants are take out only. Movie theaters are closed, and would be a pretty bad idea with Covid. But we were thinking how the Tesla has Netflix and Hulu so we decided to have a Pandemic Date Night in the car! We got takeout from Lake & Irving, one of our favorite places.

Then we went to Lake Bde Maka Ska, parked along the parkway, and watched Hunt for the Wilder People on Netflix in the car. It was a fun change of pace, and a really good movie.

When Tesla added Entertainment options like Netflix and Hulu I thought that would be possibly interesting when waiting for someone. But hadn’t ever thought we’d watch a whole movie. 🍿 Also, running the heater, seat heaters, and entertainment system for the whole movie used about 10% battery. Also, the audio is really good. The surround sound was very immersive. I think we may do this again. πŸ‘

    Parallel Zoom Pacing

It turns out I pace a decent amount. Last week I was on a Zoom call and also took a call on my cell. I muted my audio but left the video on and one of our team grabbed the video loop and made it into this terrific Zoom video background. So brilliant! Only topped by sharing it with several of us who then had it on at the same time. That is a lot of pacing! πŸ˜‚

We watched the live stream of Home Free’s Warmest Winter Holiday Special tonight. It was a fun time with good music, Wassail Tea, and the usual Home Free humor.

Here I am pretending that Lucky is a lap dog. She is confused if she should be happy about the attention or terrified that her paws are not on the floor.

Nice day for a campfire. πŸ”₯
