Cannon Lake Flooded and Boat Floats Away
Cannon Lake flooded bringing the water level well above the dock. I was very happy that we had a Floe aluminum dock and it is fine being completely submerged. When we arrived at the lake everyone was shocked at the level of the water. What shocked me was the fact that our pontoon was nowhere to be seen! We keep it on Sealegs and the water had risen enough that it lifted up and floated away. I was panicking and went into the water and thought I was walking along the dock and proceeded to walk right off the dock and go all the way in the lake. Yuck.
After regaining my composure we spotted the pontoon. It had floated all the way across the lake and was on the other side along the shore. Now to get it back. The first thought was to drive over, bushwack through the land and get to the boat. I made it about 50 feet and realized that wasn’t going to be easy. The ground was muddy and sloppy, and impossible to get through. We needed a different plan.
This time we were smarter. We got the kayaks out and paddled over to the boat. Once there, boarded it, raised the legs and drove it back to shore to wait out the flooding.
