Which is it?
This was from a couple of weeks ago when iPhone OS 2.1 came out. It’s so common on the web to research a product and find completely contradictory opinions. One person will say it’s horrible, doesn’t even work. Another says it’s amazing. Rarely do you see those differences right next to each other in Twitter though.
Too Much Trash
This is a sign of bad housekeeping on your computer. Exactly what were in those 74,959 files anyway? Hmmm…
Stacking Wood, Exhausted
Today I turned this “fireplace cord” that I got the “special” delivery of the day, about 20% more than I ordered from Firewood.com.

Into this, 5 feet in the air and there are two rows deep:

And this, for the Big Green Egg Chiminea that is on the way, and maybe to try cooking with some wood in the Big Green Egg:

And this, for ample fires over the next few months:

Whew, tired out!
Backdraft on Big Green Egg
A couple of days ago I was grilling some chicken breasts on the Big Green Egg and opened the top too fast without “burping” the egg and letting some oxygen in more slowly. A huge burst of flame shot out and took care of a good patch of hair on my arm! Smelled gross.

Painless automated install of both Vista and XP in two VM’s went great. Walked away and came back in an hour. Thanks Parallels!
Just got a CrashPlan connection going with my neighbor. Speed looks promising. May be able to stop worrying about offsite backups of photos
Bracing myself to setup Windows XP and Windows Vista virtual machines on my Mac Pro.
- Creating a 4TB volume (with 2.03TB of free space) on my Drobo. Future home for my iTunes library.
- Funny how the Drobo setup process is all in the 1st person. “I will update and reboot.”
- Starting the very long process of moving iTunes library to the Drobo. Will just let this run for a few hours.
- iTunes library still migrating, about 90% done but moving big video files now.
Watching Mazie’s very first dance class. Precious!
The arrival of two pit bull/bull mastiffes to the dog park added much stress.
Abalastow Compendium
My buddy Dan has issued an SEO challenge to the students in his class. I thought it was pretty cool and could use some spice to see how base PageRank affects search rankings. I’m curious to see where I would fit in, so I put this post out there. Google, come and get it.
I see the search results already have a hit from blog.lib.umn.edu. That is going to be tough since Google loves .edu and .org so much more than .com, but we’ll see.
No Wikipedia hits for Abalastow Compendium either.
The image at the right is what I imagine an antique Abalastow Compendium to look like.
Update (9/25/08): Proving some theory of the Internet™ or human behavior true some enterprising individuals have actually put a trump card and bought the Abalastow Compendium domain name, both the .com and even the .org version. Nobody grabbed .net it seems.*
Trying Twittelator on iPhone. Like the more advanced features.
Commercial defending high-fructose corn syrup = the definition of corporation over health.
Just ordered a log hoop for the upcoming Big Green Egg chiminea.
These Mojave Experiment ads are – desperate? Anyone else think it’s exactly like Folgers instant coffee commercials from way back?
Reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and wishing I had a spot in the yard for a garden.
2 for 5 on the “ring the bell” sledgehammer. Not great. 🙁
Wishing my Big Green Egg chiminea wasn’t 3 weeks away. 😕 Rearranged the deck for it, great spot and nice layout now. Zen.
Got the fountain running for the first time in 3 years. Now it’s setup outside. Much corosion to clean in the pump, but got it going!
Just finished replacing the gasket on the Big Green Egg. More work than I expected, but closes so nice again.
