Heading to the B-Squad game! New, super pro baseball pants tonight. Watch out everyone!

Injured myself on the FIRST play on tonights B-Squad game. Ugh! Need to stretch and vitamin I!

I officially declare, that as of today, it is too warm to wear wool socks. Will revisit in November. Thank You.

Dreading having to empty the basement to have new carpet installed tomorrow. ๐Ÿ™

Debating with Tammy about why she is vacuuming carpet that is going to be torn out tomorrow morning.

Getting ready to put dry rub from Mike Rock on the 7.5 pound grass fed brisket.

Last prep tonight for tomorrows brisket, soaking chips. Black Cherry. Mike Rock and I eat well tomorrow!

I really believe that the James Brown mega-funk playing while the brisket was rubbed will make it taste better.

Problem: Sun has now come out and started to raise the temperature of the Big Green Egg past 220 ยฐF. Solution: Umbrella.

Tonight’s brisket is on the Big Green Egg! Dinner in ~12 hours. Bet Mike Rock can smell it at his house.

Brisket at hour 12. Hoping Mike Rock and I get to eat soon. 170 internal temp. Surly whetting the appetite.

Brisket done. Time for Mike Rock to carve.

Brisket is unbelievable. Amazing! Very moist too! Mike Rock and I very happy.

Next brisket is going to get started at 8:00pm the night before and cook while I sleep. It was amazing, but 9:30pm dinner is too late.

    Tetris Shower

    Tetris Shower Overall

A couple of months ago we decided to re-tile our downstairs bathroom shower. After 20 years the house had settled enough that there were notable cracks that we didn’t feel we could just caulk over. We pondered what to do with the tiling and considered a number of designs. Our friend that was helping Tammy with the design did a Tetrisยฎ concept and I loved it right away!

Making the pattern was both harder and easier than you would think. It was critical to me that the tile pattern be correct. I wanted all the game tiles in their normal, whole, shape. This meant that no line in the pattern could be completed, since it would be removed in the game. Making sure the tiles were logically correct was causing some challenges until I just decided to play several games of Quinn, a tetromino game for the Mac, and capture a number of boards. After I adjusted my head to playing Tetris specifically to not complete rows we got a few screenshots and put them together.

    Tetris Shower Piece Falling

The completed bathroom tiles are logically correct. If you look closely you can see that there are empty tiles in all the rows. The top rows are all empty since the game is in progress, and there is a single tile in the process of falling.

The tiling was done by Terry Owens of Como Lake Carpentry, who also did our new garage shelves and a bunch of other projects for us. He’s awesome. We really dig the look of it, and it’s fun to have a colorful tile pattern that appears fairly random but is really a game.
