Logan
When Tammy and I got married our respective cats started their relationship. It started rocky, and always has been rocky. Gypsie (my cat) and Logan (Tammy’s cat) never got along. Logan tried, but Gypsie was not looking for friends it seemed. They built a model that worked where Gypsie was mostly mean all the time and Logan managed her proximity to not get too close.
One of the surprises I got when I started living with Logan though was that she had a problem with the litter box. She used the litter box all the time for #2, but #1 was a different story. Tammy didn’t fill me in on this little detail ahead of time, so it was a “neat” surprise that she wasn’t really housebroken.
Having a cat peeing in the house everyday, even though Tammy always cleaned it up, didn’t make me joyous. I mostly saw floor damage when I looked at Logan. We didn’t exactly get off on the right foot.
After five years though, I have to say that Logan is a really nice cat. She’s super-friendly, and has a great temperament. Her only challenge, while a big one, is her aversion to the litter box.

Logan from 2002.
When we got Izzy the pet situation got all messed up. Gypsie put up a big fight and established with Izzy early on that she wasn’t going to put up with anything. Logan was another story, she was passive and Izzy took to chasing her constantly. Ever since Izzy came into the house Logan became nocturnal, simply hiding all day and only emerging if Izzy was in her kennel. She was really scared, and Izzy was “on the hunt” to find her all the time.
Today Tammy took Logan to live on a farm that our brother-in-law has a connection with. It’s not just any farm, it’s a corporate facility that has a full-time vet for horses and other farm animals and they have a bunch of cats that live there as well.
While I’m elated to have a peeing cat out of the house, and we are already planning on carpet cleaning and replacement, I hope Logan enjoys her new situation and finds more welcome friends with the other cats than she ever did with Gypsie. We’ll make some trips out to visit her and make sure things are going well in the coming weeks.
